Ondo Raises 2026 Budget to ₦769bn, Targets Roads, Water and Healthcare
The Ondo State Government has revised its 2026 budget upward from ₦524.411 billion to ₦769.384 billion, with additional funding planned for roads, water supply, healthcare and other infrastructure projects. The revised appropriation, which has been sent to the Ondo State House of Assembly for ratification, follows a mid-year assessment of spending by ministries, departments and agencies. The government said the adjustment will address funding gaps, support ongoing projects and improve implementation during the rest of the year. Under the road programme, the state plans to construct at least five kilometres of road in each of its 18 local government areas before the end of 2026, amounting to a minimum of 90 kilometres. More funds were also allocated to the Adegbola–St. Mathias flyover in Akure, as well as water and healthcare services. The State Executive Council also approved traditional leadership appointments and warrant chiefs to support the selection of new rulers in Bolorunduro, Ikun Akoko, Ute and Ero communities.
