Imo Student Nurse Found Slain: Vulcaniser Suspect Arrested After Confession

An Imo State nursing student was discovered dead in her off-campus lodge on May 21. Her throat had been slashed so viciously she was nearly decapitated. Investigators arrested a local vulcaniser, Onyema Okonkwo, who confessed that he and an accomplice broke into her room. He said they raped her in turn before he killed her when she recognized him. Authorities released footage of the suspect’s arrest and confession. The victim reportedly fought back, scratching him during the attack before he fled with her phone.
