IG Redeploys Osun Police Commissioner Gotan to Force Headquarters Ahead of Governorship Election
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has redeployed Osun State Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Gotan to the Force Headquarters in Abuja with immediate effect. A police wireless signal dated July 30, 2026, posted Gotan to the Communications Operations unit at Force Headquarters for special duty. The directive was circulated to police commands and specialised units nationwide. The move comes ahead of Osun State’s August 15 governorship election, with security arrangements becoming a major political issue. Governor Ademola Adeleke had earlier alleged rising violence, intimidation and politically motivated arrests targeting his supporters. The police and the APC had not publicly responded to those allegations at the time of the report.
