Man Jailed 27 Years for Brutal London Stabbing Over Mistaken Identity
A 23-year-old London man has been sentenced to 27 years in prison after a knife attack left a stranger with permanent brain damage. Richard Sivanda confronted a 20-year-old and his girlfriend in north London on February 15, 2025, wrongly believing the man was linked to a rival gang. He chased them along Highgate Hill, stabbed the victim in the head and then fled the scene. CCTV footage led investigators to Sivanda’s home, where he was arrested less than 30 hours later. A video later emerged of him boasting about the attack. Detective Chief Inspector Gemma Alger described the assault as "heinous" and said it underlined the need to tackle knife crime across the city.
