Troops Repel Terrorist Incursion into Niger, Recover Rifle and 398 Rounds

Troops under Operation Savannah Shield reportedly repelled an attempted terrorist incursion from Zamfara State into Niger State after intelligence indicated that about 200 motorcycles were moving towards Inana Village in Rijau LGA. Personnel of the 311 Army Reconnaissance Battalion and 18 Brigade Quick Response Forces intercepted the group near Majai and Tungan Bisallah villages. The terrorists withdrew, leaving behind an AK-47 rifle, 398 rounds of ammunition and a motorcycle. Six other motorcycles were destroyed. One soldier was injured. In separate operations, troops reportedly neutralised a suspected ISWAP courier and informant in Gujba, Borno State; recovered a rifle and ammunition from a suspected gunrunner in Wukari, Taraba State; and arrested five suspects during a raid on a transport company in Aba, Abia State over alleged movement of military camouflage items.
