Wike’s Faction Clinches INEC Access Code at Wadata Plaza Showdown

Wike’s Faction Clinches INEC Access Code at Wadata Plaza Showdown

On June 25, 2026, Nyesom Wike addressed PDP leaders at the party’s national headquarters in Wadata Plaza. He warned that come June 26, the true PDP would secure its INEC access code and upload its 2027 election candidates. True to his word, INEC issued the code to Wike’s faction the next day. Party officials confirmed they had received the necessary documents and begun uploading names for the presidential and governorship contests. Wike’s claim hinged on legitimacy of location. While an opposing faction met in a hotel ballroom, Wike’s group occupied the registered secretariat at Wadata Plaza. INEC recognised the leadership physically in control of the headquarters as the authentic PDP. The rival Turaki-led faction says court rulings will decide the final outcome. But for now, Wike’s camp holds the advantage with INEC’s official access code.

Do you think securing the INEC access code will really strengthen Wike's hold over the PDP heading into 2027?

Absolutely, having that access code could give his camp more control over candidate selection and party machinery.

Party leaders should immediately outline clear steps for candidate verification and public communication to avoid confusion after this sudden INEC code transfer.
