Ogun Releases ₦6.75bn for Retirees’ Gratuity and Pension Top-Ups
The Ogun State Government has released ₦6.75 billion to pay gratuities and Additional Pension Benefits (APB) to retired public workers. The Head of Service said ₦2.751 billion will cover gratuities for 432 beneficiaries. Another ₦4 billion will fund APB payments for eligible retirees from July 2025 to date. The APB is intended to reduce the gap between benefits payable under the Contributory Pension Scheme and what some retirees may have received under the old Defined Benefit Scheme. It is separate from funds held in retirees’ Retirement Savings Accounts and does not reduce their personal pension savings. The government said it would continue to clear outstanding pension obligations while urging serving workers to keep their pension records and documentation up to date.
