Osun Police Arrest Five Suspects, Recover AK-47 After Lexus Jeep Theft

Osun Police Command says it has arrested five suspected members of an armed robbery gang after a newly acquired Lexus Jeep was stolen from its owner in Ada on 17 August 2026. Police said its Anti-Robbery Team tracked the vehicle and arrested two suspects at a filling station in Ibadan, Oyo State, while they were allegedly refuelling it. The suspects were reportedly taking the vehicle to a receiver in Idiroko. Further investigations led to the arrest of three other suspects in Esa-Oke, Osun State. Officers also recovered an AK-47 rifle with 13 live rounds and a single-barrel firearm in Ila-Orangun, police said. The command said investigations are continuing to locate the alleged receiver, and all suspects found culpable will be prosecuted.
