FCT Police Arrest Five Over Alleged Infrastructure Vandalism, Recover Cables and Streetlights
The FCT Police Command has arrested five suspects over the alleged vandalism of public and private infrastructure across Abuja. Police said the suspects allegedly stole drainage covers, solar streetlights, armoured high-voltage cables and internet communication cables worth millions of naira. The items were reportedly recovered during coordinated operations in Maitama, Garki, Durumi, Jabi, Apo Legislative, Lugbe and Nyanya. FCT Commissioner of Police Muhammed Sanusi said the thefts exposed residents to road accidents, pedestrian injuries, street crime in poorly lit areas and electricity disruptions. The recovered exhibits will be handed over to the FCT Administration's facility maintenance department.
