EFCC Declares Timipre Sylva Wanted Over Alleged $14.86m Fraud

EFCC Declares Timipre Sylva Wanted Over Alleged $14.86m Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has asked former Bayelsa State Governor and former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, to appear for questioning over an alleged $14.86 million fraud. The commission said Sylva has been declared wanted and urged him to cooperate with its investigators. EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale said the former minister should make himself available as inquiries continue. Sylva has previously denied wrongdoing and alleged political bias. The EFCC says its action is part of its legal duty to investigate financial crimes. The allegations remain unproven, and only a court can determine criminal liability after due process.
