NCDC Says Nigeria Has No Ebola Case After Kenya Confirms Imported Infection
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention says no Ebola case has been confirmed in Nigeria as of October 6, 2026. The agency said it has stepped up preparedness after Kenya confirmed an imported Ebola case linked to the ongoing outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The infection was caused by the Bundibugyo virus. According to the NCDC, the patient travelled from the DRC through Uganda to Kenya, where he was isolated and tested positive. The patient later died, while Kenyan authorities began contact tracing and other response measures. The NCDC said cross-border travel and population movement create a risk of importation, but stressed that there is currently no confirmed Ebola case in Nigeria.
