Countdown to AMVCA 2026: 12th Edition Lights Up Lagos Tomorrow

Africa’s biggest film and TV celebration returns on 9 May in Lagos with even higher stakes this year. With nine nominations each, Gingerrr and The Herd lead the pack. To Kill a Monkey and My Father’s Shadow also shine across major categories. Top performers like Sola Sobowale, Lateef Adedimeji, Uzor Arukwe, Linda Ejiofor, Genoveva Umeh and Femi Branch are all favorites to win. Fashion will steal the spotlight long before awards begin. Cultural Day kicks off at 4PM WAT, the main ceremony follows at 7PM WAT, and an after-party wraps up the night. Hosts Bovi and Nomzamo Mbatha promise a fun evening.
