Wike, Qatar Envoy Discuss Embassy Land Dispute and Abuja Urban Development Partnership
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has assured Qatar that the FCT Administration will address concerns over the 8,000-square-metre plot allocated for the country’s embassy in Abuja. Qatar’s ambassador said a court letter had challenged the ownership of the land, affecting planned development on the site. During their meeting in Abuja, Wike and the ambassador also discussed a possible partnership between Abuja and Doha on urban planning, transport, infrastructure and investment. Wike said the FCT Administration is interested in learning from Qatar’s experience in developing modern cities. The minister proposed sending an FCT delegation to Qatar to study its planning and transportation systems. Both sides also discussed possible collaboration with Qatar Charity in education, healthcare, housing and community infrastructure across the FCT.
