Nigerian Navy Destroys 17,500L of Suspected Stolen Crude Oil in Rivers State

Nigerian Navy Destroys 17,500L of Suspected Stolen Crude Oil in Rivers State

The Nigerian Navy destroyed 17,500 litres of suspected stolen crude oil in the Bonny area of Rivers State on March 13. The operation was carried out under Operation Delta Sentinel on the orders of Vice Admiral Idi Abbas. Personnel from the Forward Operating Base in Bonny used maritime surveillance technology to detect concealed dugout pits hidden under thick creek vegetation. They quickly moved in and uncovered four pits holding the illegal product. The recovered oil was destroyed in line with operational guidelines. The Navy said this action demonstrated its renewed commitment to tackling crude oil theft. It vowed to sustain patrols, enhance surveillance, and strengthen inter-agency collaboration to protect Nigeria’s maritime assets.
