Ekiti Halts Night Church Services After Deadly Attack and Kidnappings

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has ordered all night church services in Eda Oniyo, Ilejemeje LGA, suspended after gunmen killed a pastor and abducted about 15 worshippers. Speaking during a visit, the governor’s office promised a decisive security response, intensified search efforts for the hostages, and stepped-up patrols along forest corridors used by criminal gangs. Residents have begun building a police station at the Eda Oniyo–Obbo Ayegunle boundary and urged the government to deploy additional troops. Community leaders call for sustained intervention to prevent further attacks.
