Tinubu’s First Lady Pledges N2bn Support for Abia’s Akwete Weavers
The First Lady recently donated N2 billion to develop the Akwete weaving industry in Abia State. She announced the fund in Aba while celebrating the town’s hand-woven textile heritage. She described the vibrant Akwete fabric as a sacred tradition passed down through generations. She urged young Nigerians to embrace their culture and pledged to promote the fabric nationally. Governor Alex Otti welcomed the donation, saying it will create jobs and boost the state’s economy. Local rulers also honoured the First Lady with the title “Ugo Nwanyi Abia” in recognition of her support.
