Dino Melaye: Peter Obi Is a Regional Champion, Not a National Figure

Senator Dino Melaye has described Peter Obi as a “regional champion,” arguing that politicians with mainly regional support cannot become president of Nigeria. Melaye contrasted Obi with Atiku Abubakar, whom he called a nationalist. He said Obi is his friend and a good man, but maintained that his political appeal is regional. He also cited the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, saying Awolowo’s strong support in the South-West limited his presidential ambitions despite his qualities as a leader.
