NSC DG Marks Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary With Sports Development Pledge

The Director-General of the National Sports Commission has congratulated Nigerians on the country’s 66th Independence Anniversary, describing sports as a source of unity, resilience and global pride. He highlighted recent achievements by Nigerian athletes and teams, including Team Nigeria’s medal haul at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, world-record performances in para-sports, D’Tigress’ AfroBasket success and victories in athletics, basketball and flag football. He said the commission will continue to support facilities, competitions and development pathways that give more young Nigerians opportunities to excel in sports.
