Petition Calls for End to Band A–E Electricity Tariffs and a Uniform Price per kWh

I am calling on the Federal Ministry of Power and the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission to review the Band A–E electricity tariff system. The current structure charges consumers different rates based on their feeder classification and expected supply hours. I believe households and small businesses should pay a clear and uniform rate per kWh within the same customer category. In a 2025 approved tariff schedule, Band A non-MD customers paid ₦209.50 per kWh, compared with ₦66.47 for Band B and ₦53.78 for Band C. I support sustainable electricity pricing and investment in the sector. However, I urge the government to provide transparent, targeted subsidies for vulnerable consumers, enforce service commitments by DisCos, expand metering and compensate customers when promised supply hours are not delivered.
