Anambra Town Planners Seek Inclusion in Physical Planning Law Amendment
The Anambra chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners has asked the state government to consult built-environment professionals before amending the Physical Planning Law. The institute said town planners, architects, engineers, surveyors, environmental experts, traditional institutions and local governments should be involved in the process. It argued that technical development plans should be assessed by qualified planning professionals, while legal officers focus on legal advice and compliance. The planners also called for stronger planning institutions and the constitution of local planning authorities. The Attorney-General said he would engage the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development on issues within its jurisdiction.
