‘I Prayed for Death’: Woman Kidnapped in Ogun Forest Describes Harrowing Ordeal
One of five travellers rescued by Operation Kosaye in Ogbere forest, Ogun State, recalls how she lost hope of survival. Temiloluwa, an IT officer, was abducted along with two colleagues while travelling from Edo to Lagos on June 25. She says gunshots caused a crash that left her bleeding and unable to flee. The kidnappers stripped them of valuables and marched them into the forest, demanding a ₦20 million ransom. After four terrifying hours, a sudden barrage of gunfire heralded the arrival of a security rescue team. Overcome with relief, she admits she had already prayed for eternal rest before officers arrived. Temiloluwa praises the police for their care after the rescue and urges both federal and state governments to improve salaries, equipment and welfare for security personnel to better protect Nigerians.
