FCT Police Storm Byazhin, Rescue Five Kidnapped Victims
The FCT Police Command announced that five kidnapped hostages have been freed after a joint operation in Paze and Byazhin. Commissioner of Police Dr. Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi personally led teams from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Intelligence Response Team, Kubwa Area Command, and local vigilantes. On the night of June 9, officers clashed with suspects in a gun duel. Two kidnappers were neutralized and two others—identified as Icheh Mohammadu and Abubakar Usman—were arrested. Authorities recovered two AK-47 rifles, and the remaining suspects fled with gunshot wounds into nearby hills. Under mounting pressure, the gang abandoned five hostages who were rescued unharmed. They have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, while search operations continue to apprehend those still at large. The CP praised the bravery and professionalism of operatives and community volunteers. The public is urged to report anyone with gunshot wounds or suspicious activity to the nearest police station or via the FCT Command emergency numbers: 08032003913 or 07057337653.
