Five Girls Escape Boko Haram Captivity in Borno, Reunited with Families
Troops from Operation Hadin Kai rescued five girls who escaped Boko Haram enclaves in Borno State amid intensified military operations. On June 4, soldiers of the 82 Division Task Force found 13-year-old Aisha Idrisa and 11-year-old Fatima Abubakar near Amuda in Gwoza LGA. The girls fled a Sahalawa hideout after relentless bombardments forced insurgents to abandon their positions. Both were screened and reunited with relatives at the Pulka IDP camp. Meanwhile, Wuriya Kaka (12), Fauza Abu (13), and Hussaina Usman (13) surrendered to troops of the 26 Task Force Brigade after escaping from Guduf Nagadayo in the Mandara Mountains. They are now undergoing standard screening and profiling. Security analysts say the growing number of escapees highlights the mounting pressure on insurgents. Troops remain vigilant as counter-insurgency efforts continue across the North-East theatre.
