Nine Zamfara Lawmakers Leave APC for ADC, Cite Insecurity and Party Crisis
Nine members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly have defected from the All Progressives Congress to the African Democratic Congress, citing insecurity, alleged injustice and internal divisions within the APC. The lawmakers said they had repeatedly raised concerns over worsening security in their constituencies and accused the state administration of failing to respond adequately. They also alleged that they were sidelined within the APC after earlier disagreements. Five of the lawmakers submitted resignation letters dated October 4, 2026, saying their decisions followed consultations with stakeholders. The Zamfara State Government and the Assembly had not responded to the allegations at the time of the report. The defections add to political realignments in Zamfara ahead of the 2027 general election.
