Visitor Arrested After Sneaking into Pygmy Hippo “Moo Deng” Enclosure at Thai Zoo
On March 17, a male visitor climbed over barriers into the pygmy hippopotamus pen at Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chonburi Province. He slipped in while staff carried out their evening duties and filmed Moo Deng and her mother Jona on a tablet. Security footage shows the man entering and exiting the restricted area without touching the animals. Both hippos remained unharmed, and the zoo’s veterinary team is monitoring their behavior. Officials arrested the trespasser and later released him on bail. The zoo is investigating his motive, thanked the public for reporting the incident, and reminded all guests to follow safety rules or face legal action.
