IGP Orders Fresh Forensic Investigation Into Mohbad’s Death

The Inspector-General of Police has approved a petition from the family of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, seeking a fresh and comprehensive investigation into his death. The family’s lawyer said the petition, submitted on April 14 and received at Force Headquarters on May 7, raised concerns about inconsistencies in the earlier investigation. A new team of investigators has reportedly invited and met with the family’s representative. The family clarified that the ongoing re-investigation is separate from a Federal High Court case recently dismissed in Abuja. Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, aged 27, and public interest in the circumstances of his death has remained high since then.
