Kaduna Muslim Lawyers Condemn Mob Burning of Woman, Demand Justice

The Kaduna branch of the Muslim Lawyers’ Association has condemned the mob killing of a woman accused of child theft in Maraban Jos. Describing the act as barbaric and a threat to the rule of law, the association stressed that no allegation justifies extrajudicial punishment. It noted reports that the victim was removed from police custody before the attack and called for urgent, transparent investigation of possible security lapses. MULAN urged the identification, arrest, and prosecution of all who carried out, encouraged, or facilitated the mob violence. While commending initial police arrests, it warned that justice must be impartial and include any security personnel found negligent.
