Tajani Affirms Italy Never Permitted Bases for Military Action Against Iran

I spoke with the Iranian Foreign Minister. Italy has never joined any military initiative against Iran. We have not authorized our bases for war actions against Iran in strict respect of our treaties with the United States. I asked for the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to ease the passage of all Italian cargo ships still blocked. The reopening of the Italian embassy in Tehran is a strong signal of dialogue and paves the way for renewed economic and cultural ties. We ask Iran to forgive any unintended offense and allow our ships to pass. We truly look forward to resuming economic relations. The world is beginning to respect the Islamic Republic of Iran.
