Onanuga Says Makurdi–Enugu Highway Will Cut Travel Time and Boost Trade
Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga says the ongoing Makurdi–Otukpo–Obollo-Afor–Enugu dual carriageway will improve travel, trade and regional connectivity between the North Central and South-East. During an inspection of the project in Benue State, he said travel time between Makurdi and Otukpo had reportedly reduced from about three hours to roughly one and a half hours on completed sections. The 258-kilometre highway runs through Nasarawa, Benue, Kogi and Enugu states. It is divided into five sections and is expected to be completed by December 2027, according to the Federal Controller of Works in Benue. Officials said the road is expected to improve safety, ease the movement of agricultural produce and strengthen commerce across the affected states.
