FCT Says It Issued 26,272 C of Os in Three Years, Beating 13-Year Total

The FCT Administration says it has issued and signed 26,272 Certificates of Occupancy in the first three years of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. The figure is higher than the 8,697 C of Os issued between 2010 and 2023, according to the minister’s media office. Many of the beneficiaries had reportedly waited more than a decade after receiving their land allocations. The administration said land allottees can now receive their C of O within two weeks after completing required payments. It also introduced automated collection notifications and said it granted 2,521 Consents to Assign and 177 Consents to Mortgage during the period. C of Os and related consents can help property owners transfer ownership, secure mortgages and use land as collateral for business loans.
