Jesus Foretells His Death and Glory (John 12:20–36)
Some Greeks seek out Jesus during the festival and ask his disciples to introduce them. Jesus explains that his hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. He uses the image of a seed dying in the ground to show that true life comes through sacrifice. Troubled yet determined, Jesus prays for God’s glory and is affirmed by a voice from heaven. Jesus speaks of judgment on the world, his eventual “lifting up,” and urges people to walk in the light while they have it.
