Wike Urges Nigerians to Reject ‘Political Gamblers’ Ahead of 2027
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has urged Nigerians to reject politicians who exploit ethnic grievances and public hardship to pursue personal ambitions ahead of the 2027 elections. Speaking at the Idoma Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Benue State, Wike said voters should judge leaders by their records, competence, accountability and the services they deliver. He warned that visiting vulnerable communities only when seeking power should not be mistaken for genuine public service. He argued that equity must go beyond which region or ethnic group holds office. According to him, political inclusion should translate into jobs, education, healthcare, electricity, security, infrastructure and economic opportunity for ordinary Nigerians. Wike also said federal character, zoning and rotational arrangements cannot guarantee justice if public office remains a tool for private enrichment rather than service to the country.
