PCN Shuts 430 Illegal Medicine Outlets Across Yobe

The Pharmacy Council of Nigeria has shut 430 medicine outlets across 10 local government areas of Yobe State over illegal operations and regulatory breaches. During a four-day enforcement exercise, officials inspected 601 premises, including pharmacies, patent medicine shops and unregistered outlets. All 300 unregistered premises were sealed, while 20 pharmacies and 110 patent medicine outlets were closed for violations. The council cited expired or missing licences, poor storage conditions, unauthorised access to controlled medicines and the use of unqualified staff. It warned that such practices could expose residents to counterfeit, poorly stored or unsafe medicines. Residents have been urged to buy medicines only from outlets licensed by the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria and displaying valid licences.
