Thierry Henry Hails Impressive Performances of African Nations at World Cup 2026

Former Arsenal and Barcelona striker Thierry Henry has praised the displays of African teams at the 2026 World Cup co-hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada. Speaking as a pundit on Fox Sports, Henry singled out South Africa, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Cape Verde and Morocco for reaching the knockout stages. South Africa’s 1-0 win over South Korea made them the second African side into the Round of 32, while Ivory Coast secured their first-ever place in the knockout phase. Henry believes these results highlight the growth and competitiveness of African football on the world stage. “It’s nice to see what the African teams are doing in this tournament,” he said. Cape Verde, Egypt, Ghana and Senegal have also booked spots in the next round. South Africa will meet Canada in their Round of 32 tie in Los Angeles.
