CAF Strips Senegal of 2025 AFCON Title, Awards Morocco 3-0 Win
In a landmark ruling, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has overturned the 2025 AFCON final result. Morocco is now champions by a 3-0 forfeit after Senegal’s post-match protest. During the Rabat final, Senegal walked off in protest over a disallowed Ismaila Sarr goal and a last-minute VAR-awarded penalty. The Lions of Teranga left the pitch in the 90th minute and only returned 15 minutes later. Their manager, Pape Thiaw, had urged the walkout. Senegal had originally beaten Morocco in extra time through Pape Gueye’s header. But on Tuesday, CAF’s Appeal Board applied Article 84 of the AFCON regulations and ruled Senegal forfeited. The match is now officially recorded as a 3-0 victory for Morocco.
