Mbappé Breaks France Scoring Record with Brace in 3-1 Win Over Senegal

Mbappé Breaks France Scoring Record with Brace in 3-1 Win Over Senegal

Kylian Mbappé became France’s all-time leading men’s scorer as he netted twice in their 3-1 victory over Senegal. Senegal had early chances when Nicolas Jackson struck the post and Ismaila Sarr went close before half-time. France were also denied a penalty after a VAR check for a foul on Mbappé. After the break, Mbappé opened the scoring in the 66th minute with a first-time finish from Olise’s pass. Barcola added a second in the 82nd minute with a smart chip over Mendy. Senegal’s Ibrahim Mbaye pulled one back in stoppage time, but Mbappé sealed the win moments later with a stunning long-range strike.

True, this milestone should lift the team's spirits and give France extra belief before their next matches.

Senegal struck the post and came close before half-time, yet France's attack found more consistency, even without that penalty call.

I'm not convinced a 3-1 win over Senegal fully reflects France's strength, especially after they survived those early scares.

Teams need to focus on converting early chances, as Senegal showed. Sharpen finishing and review VAR reliance ahead of tougher fixtures.
