Soludo Promises More Teacher Recruitment, Permanent Secretary Appointments in Anambra
Governor Chukwuma Soludo says Anambra State will recruit more teachers and consider eligible teachers at director level for appointment as permanent secretaries. He gave the assurance during the 2026 World Teachers’ Day celebration in Awka. The Nigeria Union of Teachers had asked the state to employ more teachers, raise the promotion ceiling to Grade Level 17 and implement the revised retirement age for teachers. The governor said the retirement age of 60 remains in force, but teachers who want to serve longer may apply and be assessed on merit. State education officials also highlighted previous teacher recruitment, free education through senior secondary school, smart schools and STEM laboratories.
