Ondo Police Launch Search Operation After Community Leader’s Kidnap
Police in Ondo State have mobilised a full-scale rescue mission for Adeniyi Adelana, the Baale of Ode Eriya village in Owo LGA, who was abducted on the night of Friday, June 12. According to the state police public relations officer, six gunmen stormed the victim’s compound under cover of darkness and forced him through a nearby bush path to an unknown location. Operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer of B Division, Owo, responded swiftly to a distress call. Search teams are combing forests, bush paths and suspect escape routes. Tactical deployments have also been strengthened in Ode Eriya and neighbouring communities to boost operational effectiveness. During the attack, the Baale’s wife was shot in the right hand. She has been treated at a nearby medical facility and is recovering well. The police urged residents to stay calm and share credible information that could aid the ongoing rescue effort.
