Four Escape Terrorist Enclaves in Borno, Surrender to Troops — 1 of 4
1 / 4

Four people who reportedly escaped terrorist enclaves in the Mandara Mountains have been taken into military custody in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State. Troops of Operation HADIN KAI intercepted a 15-year-old boy on the Gwoza–Limankara road on August 9. He reportedly said he was abducted about two years ago while picking mangoes near Dala village and was forced to cook for captives in the enclave. Later that morning, two women aged 20 and 18, along with a two-year-old child, surrendered after reportedly fleeing an enclave in Chikide. They said shortages of basic necessities pushed them to escape. All four have been screened and documented as investigations continue.
