UK Man Jailed 16 Years for Catfishing and Raping Young Muslim Men
A British-born man has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for using over 100 fake Snapchat, Instagram, and Grindr profiles to blackmail and sexually assault young Muslim men across the UK. He lured victims—some as young as 15—into sharing intimate images before threatening to “out” them unless they paid. When payments failed, he arranged late-night meetings in London parks and raped them while hiding his identity. Convicted on 17 offences including rape, attempted rape, blackmail, and making indecent images of children, police believe there may be around 100 more victims. Investigators are appealing to anyone affected to come forward, promising compassion, confidentiality, and support. The judge noted cultural stigma around homosexuality left these men especially vulnerable. Victims in need of independent help can contact specialist anti-abuse charities for support.
