Trump Says He Switched Planes After Reported Security Threat in Turkey

President Donald Trump said he switched from Air Force One to a smaller military aircraft after leaving the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, because of a possible security threat. Reports said Trump initially boarded Air Force One in view of cameras, then reportedly left through the opposite side using a raised catering truck and transferred to a C-32A aircraft. Journalists and some White House staff remained on the decoy aircraft and were allegedly unaware that he had left. US officials reportedly detected a credible Iranian missile threat, although Trump said he did not ask for many details and followed the advice of the Secret Service and military. The operation has raised concerns about whether journalists and staff on the decoy flight were adequately informed of the risk. The reported plane switch has also renewed debate over the security measures taken during heightened tensions between the US and Iran.
