The Federal Government has approved ₦10 billion for TETFund’s 2026 National Research Fund grant cycle, supporting research across 30 priority areas. Lecturers in Nigeria’s public tertiary institutions can submit concept notes for proposed projects. Only applicants whose concepts are assessed as fundable will be invited to submit full proposals. The priority areas cover humanities and social sciences, science, engineering, technology and innovation, as well as cross-cutting issues such as the blue economy, clean energy, entrepreneurship and wealth creation. The online application portal opens on August 31, 2026, and closes on October 15, 2026. The 2025 cycle funded 174 projects with more than ₦6.09 billion.
