Academic Doctors Demand Reinstatement of ABSU Professor Suspended Over Welfare Critique
The Forum of South-East Academic Doctors has condemned the suspension of Professor Nnamdi Chinwendu Nwaeze by Abia State University over a social-media post on staff welfare and unpaid entitlements. According to the group, Professor Nwaeze raised concerns about poor remuneration, outstanding promotion arrears, unimplemented salary structures and other welfare issues affecting academic staff. It described the suspension as victimisation and an attack on academic freedom. FOSAD urged the university’s management and Governing Council to reverse the suspension and engage with the welfare concerns raised. It also called on the Abia State Government to open meaningful dialogue with ASUU-ABSU in the interest of staff and students.
