APC Spokesperson Says ₦10bn Aso Villa Solar Project Will Free Up Power for Nigerians
An APC Presidential Campaign Council spokesperson, Kemi Asekun, has defended the planned ₦10 billion solar mini-grid for the Presidential Villa, saying it will reduce the Villa’s reliance on the national grid. Speaking on a Lagos radio programme, Asekun said Nigeria’s electricity infrastructure is under pressure from a rapidly growing population. She argued that moving the Villa to solar power would leave more grid electricity available for ordinary citizens. Asekun also said the Villa spends heavily on electricity and that Nigeria should make better use of its abundant sunlight for power generation.
