FG Begins Six-Month Skills Training for 2,549 Youths in Abuja and Niger
The Federal Government has launched a six-month technical and vocational training programme for 2,549 young Nigerians in the FCT and Niger State. The scheme is being delivered by 21 approved training providers under the IDEAS-TVET initiative, in partnership with the World Bank. Participants will receive training in vocational, technical, digital and entrepreneurship skills. The programme includes three months of practical training and three months of internship. Beneficiaries must maintain at least 65 per cent attendance to qualify for stipends. Training areas include poultry, fishery and aquaculture, crop production, and compressed natural gas conversion. The government says it plans to extend the scheme to between 70,000 and 80,000 youths across Nigeria to support self-employment and reduce youth unemployment.
