Sultan of Sokoto Calls on Nigerians to Pray for Credible Leaders Ahead of 2027 Polls

The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has appealed for intensified prayers for Nigeria’s future and its leaders as the country approaches the 2027 general elections. In his Eid-el-Kabir message, he stressed the importance of spiritual reflection, national unity, and collective commitment. He urged Nigerians to pray for God-fearing and visionary leaders who can tackle socio-economic and security challenges. Beyond electoral campaigns, the monarch said the nation’s stability requires sincere prayers, justice, competence, and patriotism. He highlighted the virtues of sacrifice, obedience, tolerance, and devotion observed during Eid-el-Kabir as lessons for peaceful coexistence. He also commended Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s efforts to improve welfare and security in Sokoto State, and prayed for safe journeys for pilgrims heading to next year’s Hajj, as well as enduring peace and prosperity across the country.
