Tinubu Extends NIS Comptroller-General Kemi Nandap’s Tenure by 18 Months
President Bola Tinubu has approved an 18-month extension for Kemi Nandap, the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service. The extension reportedly followed the Interior Ministry’s recommendation to prevent a leadership gap in the service. Supporters of the decision said Nandap’s tenure has seen progress in passport processing, digital services, airport e-gates, border management and staff welfare. They also urged the service to prepare a capable successor while consolidating the reforms. The extended tenure places renewed attention on whether the Nigeria Immigration Service can sustain faster passport production, improve border security and deliver more reliable services to Nigerians at home and abroad.
