Nigeria at 66: Gov Otti Urges Citizens to Defend Democracy and Reject Vote-Selling
Abia State Governor Alex Otti has urged Nigerians to protect the country’s democratic gains through active citizenship, responsible voting and vigilance. In his Independence Day message, Otti warned that complacency could weaken the freedoms secured by earlier generations. He called on citizens to reject vote-selling, political apathy, dishonesty, greed, nepotism and clannishness. The governor said Nigerians must use lawful avenues such as voting, public discourse, tax compliance and respect for the law to shape the country’s future. He also restated his administration’s commitment to the security, welfare and economic development of Abia State.
