Joint US-Nigerian Airstrikes Eliminate More ISIS Fighters in North-East
US Africa Command has confirmed fresh airstrikes on May 17 in coordination with Nigerian forces against ISIS targets in the North-East. Intelligence reports indicate several militants were destroyed and no allied casualties were recorded. The operation is intended to weaken the group’s ability to plan attacks that threaten regional security. Full assessments of the mission are still ongoing. This follows a joint mission on May 15 that neutralised senior ISIS commander Abu Bilal al-Minuki. AFRICOM says it remains committed to supporting Nigeria in dismantling extremist networks across Africa.
