Umuafene Clan Celebrates Iwa Ji Festival in Ibusa
Members of the Umuafene Clan in Umueakea Quarters, Ibusa, Delta State, marked their 2026 New Yam Festival, locally known as Iwa Ji, with traditional rites, singing, dancing and exchanges of goodwill. The Diokpa of the clan, Prof. Emeritus Augustine Onwuyali Esogbue, praised the turnout and described the celebration as one of the most successful he had witnessed in Umuafene. He thanked those who helped organise the event. The annual festival celebrates gratitude for the harvest, communal unity and hope for a prosperous new farming season. The clan leader also restated plans to reconstruct the Umuafene Ogwa and conduct the Ikpota rites before the end of 2026.
